Attendance
Students are expected to intern for a total of 320 hours at the selected practicum site for the duration of the semester. Practicum schedules are to be arranged with your site supervisor. All students must attend the scheduled on-campus meetings with the course instructor.
Your practicum attendance is to be treated as a job. If you are not able to keep your schedule, you Must contact the site supervisor in a timely manner, and email your instructor to inform that you will be on site during your scheduled time.

The student is ultimately responsible for his/her own learning and professional growth, what you put into it is what you will get out of it! It is your responsibility to conduct a realistic self-appraisal of what you personally need to master and how you can best attain it. Challenge yourself to grow as an individual and a professional.
Major Assignments
Schedule

Students are expected to keep a time log of their practicum activities in which weekly KSA domains and times are noted (see form provided). The site supervisor must sign completed entries every week. These practicum logs will become part of the student's experience record to document completion of practicum requirements for state counselor intern status.
Students are required to keep these logs up to date and may be asked by the instructor to produce these logs at any time during the semester.

Completion of the required hours for each of the KSA domains will be one of the major components of your grade.
Lamar State College clearly recognizes that the practicum site is in charge of client care, and all services provided. At the request of the practicum site, the college will immediately withdraw any student whose conduct or work may have a detrimental effect on the facility. If a student is withdrawn from an practicum site, a grade of W (withdrawal) will be placed on the student?s transcript. A student?s removal from a practicum site may disqualify the student from enrolling in other practicum courses.
